Water mills

Water mills are impressive technical landmarks at Žitný Island, which in the past were mainly on the Danube, the Small Danube and the Klátov arm of the Danube. Replicas of these water mills, known as the Gešajovské mlyny, are located directly in the flow of the Small Danube and can be found in the village of Zálesie by the lighthouse and Corso.

Water mill (Jahodná)

The water mill at Jahodná has been administered in past decades by the nearby museums in Galenta and Dunajská Streda.

Water Mill (Kolárovo)

The water mill in Kolárovo is a nicely reconstructed floating water mill, the only one of its kind in Slovakia, which is anchored to the bank of the dead arm of the Small Danube.

Water mill (Dunajský Klátov)

This cultural technical landmark, the water mill in Dunajská Streda, is located on the bank of the Klátov arm of the Small Danube in Dunajský Klátov, in the district of Dunajská Streda.

Water wheel mill (Jelka)

The water wheel mill at Jelka is among the most impressive technical landmarks and is considered a rarity in Central Europe. It is a three-storey wooden mill, unlike any others in surrounding countries.

Zálesie - Gešajov mills

The Gešajov mills project was finalised on 17 November 2012, when under the supervision of Ing. Marián Fačkovec from AMAVET Club No. 946 replicas of the mills were moved from Zálesie do the waters of the Small Danube.

Water wheel mill (Tomášikovo)

The water wheel mill in Tomášikovo is one of only few originally preserved water mills in Slovakia with bottom propulsion.
